I was born in San Antonio, Texas, in May 1974. My father was an officer in the US Air Force, so the family did a lot of moving around, including a 4-year tour in Bitburg, Germany (I envy Morritz for the virtual paradise in which he lives…). I graduated from high school in 1992, and from college in 2001, with a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies, with a minor in Speech. I met my wife, Dulcy, at college, and we were married in 1997. We have 3 sons (Michael, David, and Aedan), and 1 daughter (Katherine). We lived in South Korea, as a missionary family; first, as ESL teachers in Gunsan and Iksan for 2 years, and then with the Network of International Christian Schools (NICS), where I taught basic computer skills to grades K-12, and Speech/Debate to grades 9-12 for 5 more years. We then moved to Martinez, California, where I served one year as an Assistant Pastor at Bethany Baptist Church. From there, we found what will hopefully be our settlement in Homestead, Florida, where I have spent the last five years teaching HS Bible and HS Speech/Debate at Colonial Christian School, a ministry of South Dade Baptist Church, where I also serve as the Youth Pastor. Beginning in June 2015, I’m to join the Dice Tower team in a full-time capacity. I look forward to the opportunities and challenges that this new endeavor presents.
I have always enjoyed playing games of different varieties. I like dexterity games, but they bore me after a while. Eurogames are usually fun, but sometimes seem to sacrifice common sense for the sake of the game in their rules. Wargames are also fun to me, but can be somewhat tedious, and one can get bogged down in trying to understand the rules rather than enjoying the game. Cooperative games are rapidly becoming my favorite pass-time. I simply enjoy the camaraderie, and the sense of accomplishment the group can experience at the end of the game, having won or lost, together. So, truly, I usually am happy to play whatever game is the chosen flavor of the day. I just love the social interactivity that board games represent.
Thanks for taking the time to listen to our show, and I hope that we can continue to entertain and inform you in the future.
