Elliott Miller:
I was born in 1967, the Year of the Ram, during one of the biggest snowstorms in Chicago history. By the age of ten I was playing D&D, which eventually evolved into other role playing games like Top Secret, the Morrow Project, Bushido, Stormbringer, and my all time favorite: Call of Cthulhu.
Well, I couldn’t play RPG’s all the time. My older brother liked boardgames, and convinced me to play the old Avalon Hill bookcase games with him. Win, Place, and Show; Facts in Five; Challenge Football, I can’t even remember the rest. My love for boardgaming started right there. My freshman year we started the Gamer’s Guild at Lane Tech High School and my friends introduced me to wargames. I can recall playing Third Reich, Midway, Squad Leader, Gettysburg, and many more. Eventually I was playing historical miniatures, of which my favorite was actually a sea battle game called Fletcher Pratt, of which I still have the rules published in pamphlet form (like the original D&D Rules). It was great because we would play on the floor and take up an entire room with naval battles in WWII. Ahh..good times.
On the reality side, I am the Job Cost Control Manager for PARCOMM (A division of Parsons Engineering) which really means I monitor construction jobs to make sure the project managers are keeping track of their cash. The best part is that I work from home, which is really wonderful.
On the personal side, I got married at the age of twenty, had two wonderful kids, got divorced, met a wonderful woman with two great kids and got remarried, then had one of our own. So I have five children ranging from age three to age twenty-two.
Apart from an addiction to Magic for several years, I fell out of the gaming world. Its only been the past 18 months that I have felt the love grow again. I have all the kids involved now, even my baby girl, and I love every minute of it.
I’ve always been interested in acting and voice work, and I am in training to hopefully build a future career in voiceovers. They say you have at least three careers in your lifetime, so I’m working on my future one. Tom gave me the opportunity to work with him and Eric on the Dice Tower, and it has been great. I have learned so much and I keep trying to improve with each broadcast.
