Paulo Soledade

Paulo Soledade is a natural born gamer from Portugal that started to play games in the early eighties at the age of 7 when his father offered him Monopoly. By that time dice and good willing made the game, rules were not that important. Paper money was magic!

In his youth he tried all mainstream games that appeared in Portugal - Risk, Clue, Scrabble and others alike.

By the end of the millenium, tired of waiting for good news and searching for the holy grail he ordered some games from a friend visiting France. He actually had a lot of luck chosing them, which he did at random - Civilization, El Grande, Mediterranée and Settlers of Catan made the journey.

From that day on his life completely changed and he became a compulsive player/buyer.

He runs a blog with his gaming friends - Spiel Portugal (http://spielportugal.blogspot.com/) - and they have an annual prize "Jogo do Ano" (http://www.boardgamegeek.com/wiki/page/Jogo_do_Ano). LeiriaCon (http://leiriacon.blogspot.com/) (http://www.boardgamegeek.com/guild/644) the most important Gaming Convention in Portugal it's his biggest achievement in boardgames so far.
Martin Wallace and Mac Gerdts are on top of his preferences as a gamer. Imperial and Brass are his favourite games so far, both winners of "Jogo do Ano" prize.

He lives in Portugal with his pregnant wife and his 6 year old beautiful daughter, visits Essen since 2006 and he's a Sporting Clube de Portugal fan (http://www.sporting.pt/index.asp).

He plays tennis, likes movies, wine, travelling and he quotes Che Guevara all the time: "hay que endurecer, pero sin perder la ternura jamás".
